house is a ten minute video work, which has been shown in the US and Ireland. It was filmed in March 1997 in an abandoned farmhouse in Ovens, Co. Cork. This farmhouse is an architecture of traces; a grand piano in the living room hidden under a collapsed ceiling; a slowly decaying jumper on the back of a chair; photographs and mass cards strewn on the floor; hats on hooks behind the front door. The camera moves across textures of wallpaper and peeling paint, like an aerial shot of a great plain. house is an investigation of time and memory; brilliant sunlight fills these rooms, and the camera lingers in the light on found objects; absence and presence mingles in this space of loss. This early video work by half/angel, represents the beginning of work engaging with rural contexts. Ray Sweeten was a guest artist on this piece.
